When the phrase ‘living up to its name’ is bandied about in the case of the Samsung Omnia it can be taken as literally as possible. The word ‘Omnia’ in Latin literally translates into ‘everything’, and for a phone that has absolutely everything packed into its elegant design, the meaning is quite justified. Demands are considerable on the high-end smartphones of today, but the Omnia has more than enough in terms of features to deftly rebuff even the most stinging of criticisms.
Features of the Samsung Omnia
As mentioned before, and to put it simply, the features of the Omnia are: everything. In terms of size, at 12.5 mm it certainly is sleek, and slender. Hard to imagine a high powered smartphone of its size managing to pack in many features, yet it does, and has a stunning platinum finish to boot.
For starters, with a 5 megapixel camera complete with face detection autofocus as well as well as that famed smile detection technology. For night photography, an LED flash provides the illumination needed, and any images captured are bound to be of a high quality. Furthermore, the 3.2 inch WQVGA screen makes viewing images, and video a genuine pleasure as they are displayed to almost maximum effect.
Speaking of video, the included media player supports a variety of file formats of both video and audio types, including DivX and Xvid, ensuring that there are no problems. Entire movies can be viewed, to be honest, and with anything from 8 GB to 16 GB of internal storage, there is little problem in keeping movies around. Indeed, the one qualm that is held against the Samsung Omnia quite often is that the microSD slot is located beneath the battery, however, with anything up to 16 GB of internal storage, it really isn’t a big deal – the microSD just ends up providing additional usability instead of much needed storage.
In terms of internet connectivity, HSDPA makes for, as expected, fast browsing, and the large screen only further capitalises on this ability. Other connectivity options such as WiFi, USB and Bluetooth are also supported.
On top of everything, there is a GPS system that allows for photo tagging by location as well as acting as a directional guide in any situation. Although not a common feature yet, it is one that seems to be appreciated by man, yet none would have expected that with all the other features already included, it would have been able to be fitted into the slim profile.
Lastly, there is the Microsoft Mobile 6.1 that stitches all the features together and allows simple yet effective access to each. Any PC user will probably find the structure to be completely familiar as it shares most aspects with Microsoft Windows.
In short, Samsung Omnia is, as things stand, by far the ultimate mobile phone on the market today. By including absolutely everything in terms of mobile phones, and yet retaining the slim and stylish look that many seek, there is every reason to look for mobile phone deals with it.

February 6th, 2010How to Extend an iPhone 3GS Battery?
October 16th, 2009
Following its previous hit (read iPod) that has revolutionized the portable music player now Apple has also decided to join the mobile-phones market. Here comes the impressive iPhone 3GS with its Multi-Touch capability. With elegant design and massive built-in features, Apple has once again successfully become the trendsetter.
But it also come with some flaws mainly for the battery issues. For some users, the capacity of iPhone 3GS battery is still not sufficient to cope with all of its power-hungry features. As a ‘on-the-go’ gadget that combines communication, Internet, and entertainment functions, battery here holds critical role to enjoy this gadget to the max. The battery duration which can last for only 1.5 day is a bit annoying for most users.
This latest version comes with 3.5G (HSDPA) support as its new feature. As HSDPA excels in Internet speed, browsing becomes faster and more enjoyable. But, its battery capacity really lets you down here, you can’t browse or download for too long before the battery finally runs out of power. So, in this article I’ll give some tips and tricks to prolong your iPhone 3GS battery:
1. Lower the brightness level
iPhone 3GS has brighter screen compared to its elder brother. That’s a nice upgrade, but it consumes more power as well. So, try to lower the brightness level if you are inside a brightly-lit room.
Go to Settings>Brightness
Turn off auto brightness, then slowly slide down the level till everything still visible on screen. I think 10% brightness is still possible.
2.Turn off Wi-Fi and 3G if not used
One of the advantages of iPhone 3GS is its 3.5G and Wi-Fi capability to browse in a hotspot area. But, that does not mean you should activate it all the time. Though it is idle, battery energy will still be used to stabilize the phone network. This become worse in poor signal area.
Go to Settings>General>Network
3. Turn off vibration on games
Though it gives you more realistic and thrilled experience, vibration will further consumes more energy. Try to turn off that feature when playing games.
4. Download and purchase applications through iTunes on PC
Though it is viable to do it directly on phone, try to search and download the applications on your PC. Since it will consume much energy to browse and download the data. Hence, it’s better to download via PC and then manually synchronize from iTunes to your iPhone 3G.
5. Set auto-lock function in minimum time
This is used as precaution only. So, it’s not possible to activate some features accidentally when you forgot to lock the screen.
Go to Settings>General>Auto-Lock
6. Turn off Push Data
Turn off to reduce energy consumption. Don’t worry! You can still fetch the data per time interval.
Go to Settings>Fetch New Data
7. Charge iPhone via PC
You can charge iPhone by connecting to USB port without synchronizing it. Or if you have a car charger, charge it when you are driving. As you should know, the battery on iPhone is difficult to be replaced by own effort. So hopefully above tips and tricks can help you to maximize your iPhone 3GS.
